World Oceans Day Activities

The World Oceans Day event was organized in terms of cooperation to create power to protect the sea. There will be various activities organized to instill awareness from the youth to love the sea and know how to preserve the environment, not destroying the beautiful nature. There are many activities organized.

Release of endangered aquatic animals and water activities

Some provinces that are near the sea may organize aquatic animal release events, such as releasing fish, releasing sharks, diving to collect garbage, restoring coral reefs by transplanting.

Sea Exhibition

The organization of the sea exhibition will make everyone see the beauty of the sea, various creatures, and compare when everything is destroyed, which will make many people see the importance of protecting the sea more. It may be an exhibition of agencies that have missions in the sea. For provinces that have museums, there will be free admission to the aquarium.

Protect the sea, protect the world

Many agencies have collaborated to create power to protect the sea by organizing events that include activities that allow people to participate in the conservation, restoration, and propagation of various marine animals. Organizing activities to provide knowledge about marine and coastal resources, giving mangrove species to the community. Assigning aquatic species to release into the sea, providing mooring buoys, making artificial grass, planting corals, and diving to collect garbage in the sea. In addition, there are various activities organized by each province that are different but similar, most of which focus on marine and aquatic animal conservation. The purpose is to make people aware of the important day about the environment, World Oceans Day, and to show that they are part of the campaign to conserve marine and coastal resources.

Promotion guidelines

Local people must come together to help maintain the sea in their area for use. There must be guidelines for conservation and protection of the marine environment. Conservation is an important matter that must be understood. It must be about knowing how to use it correctly, not causing destruction, and not being so possessive that it cannot be used. The important guidelines for conservation to be successful depend on many factors.

Disseminating knowledge and information

Disseminating correct knowledge and understanding about the marine environment to people of all groups and levels to make them aware of the importance of marine resources and to be interested in jointly conserving the sea.

Support and promote conservation

Activities that are guidelines for promoting marine conservation are supporting and encouraging local people to participate in the conservation and development of their own seagrass resources.

Restoring the marine environment and natural resources

Supporting the planting and restoration of degraded marine resources and environments in areas where the environment is conducive, such as reforestation, coastal planting, coral planting, releasing fish into the water

Controlling the size of fishing gear

Preventing possible damage to marine animals by controlling the types and sizes of fishing gear used to prevent seagrass areas from deteriorating

Preventing fishing boats by placing buoys

Promoting the placement of buoys as symbols showing marine animal areas or things that need to be preserved, and to prevent large fishing boats from dragging nets into that area to fish, in order to be a part of the campaign, raising awareness for people around the world to care and jointly conserve the oceans. We should all be aware of the important international environmental day, World Oceans Day.

What to do if you go to the beach

Because the sea is beautiful, marine animals and marine resources should be conserved to make the marine environment beautiful and stay with Thais forever. Not destroying the marine environment and not destroying marine animals will make the sea more beautiful if everyone helps conserve and take care of our seas.

Do not catch marine animals

If you go to the beach, do not take shells home or catch marine animals. Let them stay in the sea instead. To share your impressions with others later, you can take photos instead. If you dive to see corals, you should not touch marine animals and plants because it may harm them unknowingly. It also prevents danger from poisonous animals.

Do not litter

When you go to the sea, you should not throw waste, food scraps, plastic bags into the sea or the beach. If you have to sit and eat by the sea, put the food scraps or plastic bags in a big bag and then throw them in the trash. Because if you throw waste or plastic bags into the sea, when marine animals eat them, they may become sick and die. Also, releasing floating lanterns and balloons into the air should not be done near the sea because if they fall into the sea, marine animals will think that it is food and eat it, which may cause marine animals to die.

Do not release wastewater into the sea

Releasing wastewater or water that is contaminated with oil or toxic substances can cause aquatic animals to become toxic and die. Do not release wastewater from washing or water contaminated with toxic substances into drains that have not gone through the wastewater treatment process before releasing it into the sea.

Check for leaks in oil tanks

If there is a leak in the oil tank, it must be repaired first. Check the boat before leaving the shore. To prevent oil spills on the sea surface, to stimulate awareness for people around the world to pay attention and jointly conserve natural resources of the sea. Even though we are not near the sea, if we have awareness and help instill in the next generations of youth to know how to preserve the sea, it will make our sea beautiful and have a good environment forever.
